The modern day 19th Virginia, Company B, was reactivated in 1978 by several gentlemen living around Charlottesville, Virginia. Deciding on portraying a local unit formed in the area during the Civil War, the 19th Virginia Infantry, Company B, "The Albemarle Rifles" was formed. Since then, the 19th Virginia has participated in countless battle reenactments, parades, and other events. Our current membership mostly over Central Virginia, as well as members in other states and Canada. We are a family friendly unit that welcomes everyone from every walk of life. We participate in battle reenactments, living history encampments, NPS events, parades, ceremonies, and school programs. Our mission is educate and demonstrate the soldier's life during the Civil War and promote the preservation of battleground and other significant Civil War sites. Some of our members have ancestors who fought in the 19th Virginia over 150 years ago. We are an unit in 3rd Regiment, 1st Division, ANV.
